Global Health and the access of affordable and reliable health care services is a growing concern, world- wide, and is especially important to me. I served three years of my life, living and working overseas in India and most recently in Bangladesh working in international health, family planning and HIV prevention programs as a senior level health program manager, working with most at risk populations (MARPS), Female Sex Workers, MSMs, Transgendered and I/DUs. Having a Masters Degree in Health Education, my role has been to develop, manage, monitor and evaluate international health programs. You can read more about me about me here.

The picture above, was taken from the tea garden region of Shrimongel in Northern Bangldesh bordeing the country of India. If you look at the picture, you will notice a family bathing, washing their clothes and cooking pots and pans in the river there. This picture speaks to my heart because so many families like this typical rural family pictured above are suffering extreme abject poverty.

According to the United Nations, end poverty 2015.org , one third of all deaths – some 18 million people a year or 50,000 per day are due to poverty-related causes. That’s 270 million people since 1990 , the majority being women and children, roughly equal to the population of the US. (Reality of Aid 2004) Every year more than 10 million children die of hunger and preventable diseases , that’s over 30,000 per day and one every 3 seconds. (80 Million Lives, 2003/Bread for the World/UNICEF/World Health Organization)

United Nations Millenium Development Goals 2015:

End Hunger: Reduce by half the proportion of people living on less than 1 dollar per day.

Universal Education: Ensure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling.

Gender Equality: Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education.

Child Health: Reduce by two thirds the mortality rate of children under five.

Maternal Health: Reduce by three quarters the maternal mortality ratio.

HIV/AIDS: Halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

Environmental Sustanability: Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programs.

Global Partnerships: Develop open trading and financial systems that are non-discriminatory

What Can I do, how can I get involved in helping with the MDGs?

Although I no longer live in India or in Bangladesh, I am still working as a consultant with MIDEGO , which is a private global health e learning, or virtual learning international public heath consulting firm that specializes in online, e learning coaching/mentoring of global public health modules, which help to address the MDGs.

Since early 2007 I have been a consultant with MIDEGO ,providing online coaching and mentoring in various 7 day MPH e learning global health modules to dozens of people representing various NGOS around the world including India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Central Asia and Africa. These 7 day MPH virtual learning or e learning modules help to equip the recipient, to be more productive health workers with their respective international health organization or clinic, but more importantly, these 7 day MPH modules help to improve field level program goals and outputs-thereby improving MDGs.

I highly recommend and encourage you to sign up for these 7 day MPH e learning or virtual learning courses. If you are a NGO manager, private clinician or would like to improve your facility's outputs and to improve health education program efficiency for your benefficiaries, these e learning modules provide real value . Although these international health e learning modules require a fee $495.00 US for individuals $297.00 US for non-profit organizations, the modules do provide tremendous value in helping you and your program in meeting field program outputs and expectations.

The MIDEGO website is here MIDEGO .The online e learning or virtual global health modules providing the following value:

Day 1 Shows the recipient how to improve your public health program today
Day 2 How to identify opportunities and select the right interventions
Day 3 How to deliver quality services
Day 4 How to receive support and buy-in for your programs
Day 5 How to innovate and deliver outstanding performances every day
Day 6 Understand how "Health for All NOW" works
Day 7 How to share your own success story

Everyone of us has a vital public health role to play in helping to reach the UN's global health MDG goals, one person, one percent at a time. By partnering together we can make a proactive impact in global health disparity and poverty alleviation.

Remember: "The only Unfulfilled Goals in Your Life are the Ones you Never Attempt"
