What areas of Your Life Do You Need Some Self Improvement?
Self improvement is something everyone one of us needs more of in our lives.
As my pastor once said: "The biggest room in the entire world, is the room called Self Improvement."
I believe this to be a very truthful statement in life that as human beings, we all have specific areas that we need to improve in, and some more than others...(myself included here..)
An area of improvement in one area automatically impacts positively the other area or domain.
As you probably are aware-there has been much written on self improvement and motivation to fill several university libraries.
I am not going to quote “whose” work is most notable or credible or recommend one individual’s improvement program over another regarding your areas of self improvement.
Instead, I want to provide for you basic strategies that you can begin now, in applying these concepts in your life in reaching areas of personal development that you and others want to see.
But you've first got to have the creative visualization for yourself before you can take action.
Personal development is such a broad concepts that encompasses and impacts all facets of human life and human interaction that includes:
All aspects of your life can be enhanced and improved for the better by making positive gains in one area which will improve other aspects of your personal development as well.
Although this website is about personal goal setting and the processes and techniques that you can use to reach your life goals in general, there are components of “personal” goal setting-such as personal development which includes topics such as positive thinking , self motivation , self discipline , and your positive attitude , which you need not just for achieving your personal goals in life-but for a more purposeful and more meaningful quality of life as a whole.
Steps In Your Self Improvement and Motivation Quest....
Rule# 1 Hope and Faith Where is your hope and faith ? As a Christian believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior, I believe completely in the power of prayer that only God Almighty is able to provide.
Life is difficult enough and a challenge on good days, and my hope and faith in God above is able to overcome any obstacle that the world brings my way, including areas of self improvement. If you’re struggling with self improvement in your own life, ask God in your prayers in helping you in these specific areas that you need help in overcoming.
If everything else you have tried has not worked and has ended in bitter failures for yourself or others, you have everything to gain but trusting God. If you want to know the secret in how to succeed in life, put God first in your life...
Rule# 2 Understanding that there are elements of your personal life and/or your professional life that are not functioning optimally as they should. I can’t help you figure what is missing-only you can “connect the dots” in your personal and professional life to see what/where you need to make positive changes to be the better you that you need/want to be?
If for example you need improvement in public speaking and you suffer from the fear of public speaking , seek out the advice of someone who is skilled in this area and practice with them one-on-one. Take a class in public speaking or hire a mentor or a life coach . The important thing is to act, take the initiative in being proactive in your activities.
Rule# 3 Write down on paper- “specific” areas in your life that you believe you need to make improvement. Is it your attitude? Maybe you just need to develop a more positive attitude. In what areas can you improve? Make a list of your smart goals regarding areas you need to improve.
Are you genuinely a very negative, critical or moody person? Make the necessary changes you need to improve upon with respect to those specific areas that are a “concern” to your or others in your family/social network and professional life.
Rule# 4 Humble Yourself- How can you ever improve and GROW as a human being, in specific areas of your life-if you aren’t willing to accept critical assessment and critique in areas of your life that need improving? Learning from others in areas you need to improve builds strong character development.
Rule#5 Make a concentrated effort on a daily basis to reflect positively in all areas of your life (example, attitude, demeanor, listening, and/or communication skills) that you need to markedly improve and make the conscience effort to improve in these areas. Develop the positive thinking mindset that you need to have.
You will notice that as you improve in one or two areas something happens-people notice the change in you and will comment positively. You will feel better about yourself and life in general as you begin to see the changes that you are working daily to overcome.
Rule# 6 When others start to notice and comment about the self improvement success and the positive changes they see in you, you will become more self-assured, and will exhibit more self confidence , which in turn will improve your overall self esteem in yourself.
You will have more empowerment and will be more energized with self motivation to continue wanting to make the improvements in your life and will be motivated to do so!
Remember: ”The only Unfulfilled Goals in Your Life are the Ones you Never Attempt”
