How Does Your Business Writing Measure Up?

Business writing from my experience does not get the attention that I believe it really deserves. After all, as a society, we use various forms of personal and business communication daily; e-mail, blackberry, cell phone or traditional land line phone.

Communication is obviously critical not only for establishing successful relationships but also in your career goals , as well as for your future college planning pursuits or even your work at home business goals as well.

What impact does your written communication have on your business goals , your staff, and more importantly on your customers?

What message are you conveying on a daily, weekly or monthly basis with respect to your business objectives in your content writing?

And more importantly-what underlying message are you communicating to your potential customers, stakeholders, clients, and how is that message being internalized?

About me , I have been helping people and private industry for over 10 years now, and what I have learned during this time is how your business writing communication is received and internalized is just as important as the business writing message itself.

How to Write Effective Business Writing-7 Key Points

Customer:

Who is your customer? Many people will write a letter without first knowing and indentifying their customer base. Who are your potential customers and why? Are you targeting work at home business owners? How about students embarking on their college planning pursuits? Or maybe you're targeting the stay at home moms or retirees? It is absolutely critical to first understand and connect with your potential customers, in understanding where they are coming from so you are then able to communicate effectively, and with 100% honesty.

Clarity:

How to write with clarity takes practice and time. You need the required self motivation, and self discipline to write with clear and concise effectiveness. Many corporate business letters are all over the place-we've all seen them, and by the time you've finished reading and proofing the letter the letter has covered everything from global warming to VIAGRA.

It's so very important to write with clarity; for effective writing impact, you must state what your main point or points are that you are trying to convey to your reader? And what is the central message or theme you want your reader to take away from your business writing communication? But it's also vitally important to ensure your overall business communication message aligns with your organization's overall mission statement.

Concise:

This is probably the most overlooked point by many organizations. Be focused and concise to the main point or points of the letter. People by nature have a very short attention span, so the central points or theme of your business writing letter should be spelled out in the very beginning of your letter-not at the end with an addendum and additional off-topic points that have no relevance.

Be succinct, concise and carful to ensure your writing goals are covered and reflect not only the central and key points for your readers-but more importantly the message you are trying to convey and the response you are seeking as your primary goal.

Conviction:

Write from the heart (without the SALES hype), like you believe what you are writing and why? Put yourself into your potential customers eyes-what you want to convey to them is just as important as the message you write.

Compassion:

I believe if you're going to do anything in life-give it all you have-and then some more! Write passionately from the debts of your being in why you are writing. Too many business writing letters have little oomph and your potential customers/readers want to be drawn in to what you have to say. Tell them what you want to say-but say it in a way that involves them by addressing their needs and concerns.

Convincing:

Write convincingly, after all, everyone has an end objective, a sign up for your newsletter or a sale from your business offering. You have to write convincingly from your heart-addressing your potential customers/clients needs first before you can even think of making the sale. You must be able to write convincingly without hyping up false claims-by always keeping it real and demonstrating 100% honesty and integrity, otherwise your efforts will just end in failures.

Caring:

This is probably the most important point, in that you must first put your potential customers ahead of your financial goals. Your potential customers/clients need to first warm up to you, they need to trust and respect you as an authority before they sign up for your service or buy your product offering. Simply stated: People don't CARE how much you KNOW-until they KNOW how much you CARE. Maybe you just need a tune up on your business writing skills, if that is the case, I highly recommend Maria at www.freelance-writing-success.com .

But it's critical to first establish the relationship building process before you start counting your dollars, yen, rupees, or euros.

If you want to know the secrets in how to succeed , it first begins with successful relationships before you start counting your bottom line.

Every business owner must understand and get this point right or you are doomed for failures in your business writing and in your business.
