As a former health educator, I can not tell you how much the importance of fluid intake is; not only in helping to rehydrate the body for vital liquids and fliud nutrients replacment which are expelled and sweated out from exercise, but also- helps with weigh-loss because of water intake which helps to curb the effects of humger and thus temptation to overeat.
As you mentioned, as human beings we do not drink enough water. I personally try to drink 8 glasses a day as well-though sometimes it may be closer to five or 6!
