***My first US Yankee Belt Buckle***

Yankee Belt Buckle

Dave & Mark-

Wow, what can I say, but one heck of a day we had yesterday digging. I never would have imagined in a milion years I would dig my first ever US Yankee belt buckle and I'm glad you guys were both there to witness the event for me. When I expanded the hole a bit after first removing the junk wire I first dug from the first signal, and rescanning the hole a second time, I just assumed it was another dropped .58 caliber that I previously had dug.

When I saw the oval disk sitting on the top of the plug of dirt I just removed and seeing the letters "U S", too say I was a bit shocked would be an understatment, and it took my brain about 5-10 seconds to realize what it was I actually recovered.

After removing the dirt with a dry toothbrush, the puppy paws still with leather attached is clearly visable-all 3 loops intact, and the face of the buckle is beautiful, with only a few minor cracks.

My words of wisdom, when removing trash from the hole you are searching, always, always rescan the hole to make sure there are no other targets, otherwise, my US Yankee belt buckle would still be in the ground, awaiting some other detectorist to recover it.

Happy Hunting...and I hope you both get your US or Confederate belt buckle soon.

Wayne
