Why should you develop a personal development plan ? I hold a Masters Degree in Health Education, and a lot of my earlier professional career (10 years +) of my work involved developing health education material resources and developing specific health education programs with a “holistic” (Emotional, Physical, Spiritual) approach for various individuals from all walks of life and various career paths.

The reason I mention this is that I do not believe I would be providing true value and benefit to you by omitting any steps of the process in developing your personal development plan. There is a vast amount of information and might I add-misinformation about personal development and developing a personal development plan both online and off-line.

I am not going to bore you with college level text book “analyses” on road to "Self Enlightenment" or which path or whose book you should read and follow to find "UTOPIA" in your life in your personal development journey. I am not a psychic, nor am I a trained/licensed psychologist. If you’re looking for specific authors/"gurus" on the Net who are trained licensed psychics or psychologists in how to guide you through your life's journey-I suggest you googling such entities on-line.

I do however have enough practical real world professional experience in dealing with a holistic point of view from my professional health back ground frame of reference which has parallels in developing an action plan for your life. There are really three dimensions or realms when looking at the “whole” person from a holistic viewpoint:

Physical- This is obviously pertaining to you as the physical person, your overall physical –internal you. How are you taking care of your body? Are you over weight, drinking too much, or taking harmful substances that you shouldn’t be doing?

Emotional-Mental-This is the cognitive you, the reasoning part-mental outlook of life you. How are you doing in this realm? Do you have a healthy mental attitude about yourself and life in general? What areas in your mental-emotional life do you need to tackle NOW-to make positive improvements in your overall emotional health tomorrow?

Spiritual-I hold to the belief that all human life originated from God-our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Himself. I am acutely aware however that the majority of the world does not accept the same Christian viewpoint. Although I respect those who may strongly disagree with me-I make no apologies as to where I stand spiritually.

If this offends you-find another website to search! The point I’m trying to drive home is that we all have a spiritual (other) belief system by which we identify and yield to (whether you are aware of it or not) I yield to Christ Himself. What do you yield to in the spiritual realm? What would you like to improve in this area?

The trick or challenge is striving for balance in all three. How do you develop a personal development plan that recognizes that we are physical, emotional and spiritual beings? How do you improve in one area of your life without compromising other areas as well?

An easy way to see this on paper is to develop a basic spread sheet with the three specific areas (Physical, Emotional, Spiritual). Then make a list in each area noting what improvements you need to make in each area. Your list becomes your action plan in developing your life plan and purpose.

Remember: ”The only Unfulfilled Goals in Your Life are the Ones you Never Attempt”
