How is Your Resume Writing?

Resume writing or CV writing is obviously a necessity requirement for almost any white or blue collar job you apply for these days, as you pursue your career goals and your long term business goals pursuits.

Whether you are a corporate CEO executive or a student with college planning goals, you must be proficient in standard business writing , and in business communication as part of your CV writing smart goals objectives.

There are also various resume services to develop a CV for you at a minimal cost.

However from my experience (about me), many people do NOT carefully take their time when developing a curricula vitae that get’s the attention of employment recruiters, and HR personnel during your employment search.

What assurance and self confidence do you have that your CV writing will lead to your hopeful job interview ?

How to Succeed in Your Resume Writing

1 Highlight and reference your key accomplishments and achievements that you have performed during your current and previous career goals pursuits. This is the most important aspect of resume writing.

Make sure your resume accurately and honestly reflects your most notable achievements and accomplishments; specifically as your accomplishments relate to the current position or positions that your are seeking.

Your achievements and accomplishments have one purpose and one purpose only-to gain an opportunity for a job interview , so you can articulately state why you are the very best person qualified for the job.

2 Make sure your resume reflects at least a 10 year period of employment which is standard in the employment industry. If you are a recent college graduate or soon to be, don't fear if you've just graduated, list any and all internships that you may have done in your curricula vitae.

3 Be Honest in your curricula vitae, Honesty is always the best and preferred policy. Also, should you purposely falsify information on your resume, you could be dismissed and fired from falsifying information that officials later learn that you made up as untrue. Don’t set yourself up for failures now, by purposely lying on your resume what you did not do.

After all, lying and being deceptive in your CV reflects poor judgement , and also a lack of character development on your part.

4 Highlight your strengths on your resume, never your weaknesses. Recruiters and HR personnel want to know what skills sets and accomplishments you bring to the table as it pertains to the various positions you are applying.

During your actual job interview, the interviewer may at that time ask you specific questions about both your strengths and weaknesses. Every human being on this planet has strengths and weaknesses, so don’t dwell on the negative, develop the positive thinking mindset, and have the hope and faith to be positive.

5 Don’t be wordy, be succinct, clear and focused in your resume writing using correct business communication. If there is anything more annoying to a prospective recruiter or HR firm, is a resume that is way too wordy, or a resume that lacks focus and clarity. You only have one chance to impress a potential employer-make sure you put your best foot forward.

6 Keep your resume no longer than 2-3 pages at the maximum. From my experience, if a resume is over 3 pages, many times these resumes are disregarded and the person is never even considered. This is why it is so important to write a resume that is clear, focused and organized that reflects the position or positions that you are seeking.

7 Make sure you perform a proper spell and punctuation check before you finalize and send your resume and cover letter , to all prospective employers.

I can’t begin to tell you how many resumes I’ve seen that have typos, grammatical errors and are totally disorganized. Put yourself in your potential employer’s eyes for a moment here. Would you hire yourself with your current resume? Be critical that your resume not only is grammatically correct and punctuation free, but more importantly, that your content writing resume, reflects accurately, succinctly and clearly , your past employment history starting with your current job going back 10 years.

8 Before you send your resume and cover letter, make sure you allow one other person to look at to review your cv writing before you e-mail or post your resume in the mail. Having a second set of eyes is always a good thing, especially if this is your first resume.

Someone other than yourself can look at your resume objectively, and critically, providing a differing perspective and assessment of your CV. Constructive criticism and insight is a wonderful tool to use. Certainly you know several people who could offer their input as well in helping you to develop the best resume that you are capable of doing.

9 Never ever include information that is too personal, such as your age, your birthday, gender, ethnicity and or religious status.

Very few employers will ever request this information prior to your job interview anyway.

Your objective is to allow your resume to talk for you, which if done properly, your resume should move you to the next logical step-securing an interview with either a recruiter or HR personnel from the hiring firm.
