Hi My Fellow TH'er (Treasure Hunters)
You know sometimes you find a friend to join you for a search for lost items in the ground. You get to the site and you both start off with a heart felt 'Good luck!' and off you go in one direction and your friend in another.
After a while you look up to check on your friend just to see if he is digging up a item or has disappeared from view. Well you look and look and finally you spot your friend and you think to yourself 'What is he doing?' You see what you think is your friend swinging their detector just as if he was on a golf course sending a golf ball down range. You next walk up to your friend and have to ask him 'What are you doing, keep your coil on the ground!' You then explain that in order for a detector to locate anything the coil has to go across the ground and it works best if the coil sort of scrubs the ground. What that means is the targets are best seen by the metal detector if the coil remains flat on the ground. Your friend thanks you for the advise and you again part ways. Another hour goes by and you look up to see your fellow TH'er again swinging his coil as if he was at the local golf course! You sometimes just have to shake your head. I gave up pulling my hair out!
Happy Hunting HH everyone
