Stewardship Requires Faith and a Heart Towards God

What Does the Bible Say About Tithing

Stewardship and tithing mean different things to different people, and probably no two people could agree on the exact definition and subject matter of financial stewardship and its implications than the next person-including you.

However, stewardship and financial stewardship are both commandments that the Lord our God requires of all mankind to do out of an act of unconditional love , by trusting and having hope and faith in God above who provides all for all mankind including you...

Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches tithing is even over-emphasized.

At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord.

Tithing and financial stewardship is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly. however, this is sometimes not the case in the church today.

Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were to give 10 percent of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle/Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5).

In fact, the Old Testament Law required multiple tithes which would have pushed the total to around 23.3 percent, not the 10 percent which is generally considered the tithe amount today. Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites in the sacrificial system.

The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends, that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

Why You Should Offer Tithes Unto God

As stated earlier above, as Christians and fellow believers, we are all required to practice stewardship or financial stewardship by giving our first fruits/tithes of our weekly or monthly job or salary to the local church. We don’t have an option not to offer our tithes-we are commanded to do us, with a joyous and cheerful heart. If you want to know the secret in how to be happy , try putting God first in your life for a change.

Furthermore, how can God bless you in your job, as you go merrily about your in your career goals , and in your business goals pursuits in life?

How can God bless you in having true and meaningful successful relationships or even to have a happy marriage , if you are deliberately withholding from God-what is rightfully His? Tithing, and financial stewardship is something that I have had to learn in how to meditate to God about in my own life.

But tithing is something that I do out of love, reverence and obedience to God-not out of forceful obligation.

You see God doesn’t just want your tithes, he wants your heart as well. There is big difference.

You just need to develop the self motivation , the self discipline and to have the right positive attitude .
